The Women’s Health Unit is committed to the delivery of quality healthcare to women of all ages, neonates and their families. Patient care needs are individualized based on data gathered during patient assessment. The Women’s Health unit consists of:
Labor and Delivery -
The Labor and Delivery unit has four rooms with a warm, home-like atmosphere. Each room has a television, closets and bathroom to make your stay as comfortable as possible, as well as sophisticated patient and fetal and newborn health monitoring equipment. Trained Labor and Delivery nurses are available 24 hours each day to provide a professional, caring environment for you and your newborn. Services include spontaneous vaginal births, augmentation/induction of labor, ante-partum care and cesarean sections.
Newborn Nursery -
Babies born at RMCHCS are cared for in the Newborn Nursery immediately after delivery. New parents are given one-on-one counseling by competent, professional staff. The staff welcomes questions raised by extended family members such as grandparents. A lactation consultant for parents interested in breastfeeding is also available. Mothers are encouraged to allow special times for bonding by having the newborn in the room with them as much as possible.
Post Partum -
The Women’s Health post Partum Unit is a ten bed unit providing services for OB/GYN patients, observation for complications and routine nursing care. The staff provides care to women with other non-infectious medical or surgical disease processes as well as patient education and discharge needs consulting.
